Anoplophora chinensis  and Anoplophora glabripennis are two beetles that grow at the expense of the wood of many ornamental plants and forestry. They are of Asian origin and considered invasive species, which means  that once arrived in our environments they create an imbalance to the ecosystem and a considerable economic damage.
Anoplophora chinensis spreads through international trade of young plants to be recultivated and bonsai; Anoplophora glabripennis instead travels hidden inside wooden packaging, in crates and pallets.
First damages due to the two insects date back to early 2000. Currently Anoplophora chinensis and Anoplophora glabripennis are internationally considered among the most dangerous pests; surely they have already won the world record for the economic quantification of their potential damage and for the financial involvement  to contrast their spread both in  the new continent and in the old one.
Lombardy Region has been committed for years to fighting these pests and looking for new and more effective means of prevention. This symposium has been organized to internationally share the acquired knowledge about predicting, detecting and fighting these two dangerous insects.
